St. Augustine Cathedral School houses a small, Christ-centered community. Each student is a citizen who acts in accordance with expected standards of behavior. Together, faculty and students share in the Gospel message. We want our school environment to be encouraging and conducive to learning at all times. In order to promote a positive learning atmosphere, the rules of conduct provide the information to help and guide students to develop self-control. Responsibility for self-discipline should ideally come from within each individual. Therefore, we foster this by guiding students to want to take responsibility for their behavior.
Harassment and Teasing
All students, visitors and staff of St. Augustine Cathedral School can expect to be treated with dignity and respect at all times. We recognize that students are learning the social skills that are necessary to achieve this treatment and therefore we will intervene when we observe inappropriate activity such as name-calling or teasing, or shunning. Students suffering such treatment should be instructed to report it to the nearest adult (teacher, principal, secretary, lunchroom personnel, or playground supervisor or parent) immediately so that action can be taken to correct the behavior.
WE ARE GOD’S PEOPLE: LET’S BE:
§ GOD’S FAMILY: Mass is a time to listen quietly. Remember God’s commandments and never take His name in vain. § RESPECTFUL: Listen to and cooperate with your teachers, supervisors, all adults, and fellow students. § SENSITIVE: Remember not to say things that will hurt feelings or cause embarrassment. Physical abuse is not acceptable. § COURTEOUS: Remember the classroom is for learning, not eating and chewing gum. Use your speaking voice. § PREPARED: Come to class on time, with books and necessary materials. § GOOD CITIZENS: Take care of School property: books, desks, lockers, restrooms, and hallways. Leave other people’s possessions alone. |
